Ready for the Superbloom?

On your mark, get set, SUPERBLOOM!

Once again, conditions seem right to dazzle Californians this year with another superbloom, when an unusually high proportion of wildflowers bloom at the same time.

Want to check out the superbloom here in Marin? In a few weeks, you can view the wildflowers on display at the following spots:

Ring Mountain, Corte Madera: March to May (the Tiburon mariposa lily, found nowhere else on the planet, typically blooms in May)

Mt. Tam State Park, Mill Valley: late March to mid-April (you can see lupines, California poppies, goldfields, and many more wildflowers here)

China Camp State Park, San Rafael: late March to mid-April (check out California poppies, blue-eyed grass, shooting stars, buttercups, sun cups, and wildflowers apparently known as er, blue dicks)

Chimney Rock, Point Reyes: late March to May (look for northern elephant seals and migrating whales while you're there)

Bolinas Ridge, Bolinas: late March through April (stunning views of the Pacific as well as blue-eyed grass, sticky monkey flowers, and Douglas iris)

Note that leashed dogs are allowed at all of the locations except Chimney Rock, and you must stay on the developed areas/paths. Also, it's technically illegal to pick any flowers from a state or federal park, so look but don't touch.
